Security is the problem and as you point out, MDM usually does not separate corporate from personal data and that is creating problem for IT departments. In our hospital, the doctors wanted HIPAA compliant text messaging, but were resistant to the MDM system because of this issue. We solved the problem by giving them a HIPAA compliant texting app (Tigertext) that has it’s own controlled network with auto deleting messages. IT departments are going to have to really be creative and think on thier feet if they want to provide secure BYOD environments.”
